| TWO NEW CLASSES FOR SUMMER 2007! Theology of the Spirit and Mariology SL610 The Holy Spirit in Scripture, the History of Christian Thought and Contemporary Theology Professor: Fr. Location: John Paul the Great Center for Evangilzation Credit Units: 3 CEU Class Dates: June 18 – July 17 Course Context: The course is designed to give the student a contextual framework in the study of the Holy Spirit in the Life of Jesus, the Early Church and in the Church through the centuries. The study will examine the theology of the Church pertaining to the Holy Spirit and its development over various periods. Course Description: The course study is primarily focused on the witness and interpretation of the Spirit in the Scripture, in the history of Christian theology, in central issues in contemporary society. A special treatment on the Holy Spirit as treated in the Second Vatican Council and how the Spirit was the guiding force behind the work of the Council Fathers at Vatican II and the ecumenical reform within the church after the council. Location: John Paul the Great Center for Evangelization Credit Units: 3 CEU Classes Dates: June 18 – July 13 Course Context: The course is designed to provide the student a framework for the study of the person, role, and the significance of Mary in Scripture and theology through the lenses of fundamental theology, theological anthropology, Christology, soteriology, and ecclesiology. Course Description: This course explores the anthropological, biblical, doctrinal and systematic approaches to a theology of Mary within the context of Scripture, History, Liturgy, Devotions and the Communion of Saints. A special treatment on Mary under the title of Santa Marian Kamalen will be examined in light of its origin, history, and the symbolic meaning associated with its legends and oral traditions handed down over the centuries. This is also a certifying course for catechists in the Archdiocese to fulfill their continuing certification. Course is open to all, especially to teachers in Catholic and Public schools. ALSO: Catholic Adult Faith Formation (CAFE) will begin new classes at the Campus Ministry Newman Center in Mangilao. Dates and times to be announced. Course study includes use of both Catechism of the Catholic Church, Catholic Bible and other resources pertinent to selected topics i.e. St. Thomas Aquinas' Summa Theologica, Early Church Fathers and doctrines of the early church, etc. Interested participants should call 472-6116 ext 231 for more information.
